Factitious Disorders

Factitious Disorders are those conditions in which physical and/or psychological symptoms are feigned in order to place an individual in the role of a patient or sick person in need of help. It is distinguished from malingering which has as its motivation such goals as staying home from school or work, avoidance of military duty or similar incentives that do not primarily center around the assumption of the role of patient.
