The Twelve Steps

1. We admitted we were powerless over our problem -- that our lives had become unmanageable. (Romans 7:18-23)

2. Came to believe that God, through his son Jesus Christ, could restore us to sanity. (Romans 7:24-8:2, 1 Corinthians 10:12)

3. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of GOD. (John 1:12)

4. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves. (James 1:21-25, Psalm 139:23-24)

5. Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs. (1 John 1:9, James 5:16)

6. were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character. (James 4:7-10)

7. Humbly ask him to remove our shortcomings. (1 John 1:9, Hebrew 4:14-5:3)

8. Made a list of all we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all. (Luke 19:8-10)

9. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others. (Matthew 5:23-24)

10. Continue to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it. (Psalm 32:1-7, Philippians 2:12-13)

11. Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with GOD, praying only for knowledge of his will for us, and the power to carry it out. (Philippians 4:5-9, 3:10-14)

12. Having had a spiritual awakening as a result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to others, and to practice these principles in all of life. (Philippians 2:3-5, Matthew 28:19-20)
