Relationship focused counselling from a Christian value system.

     Counselling for me is first and foremost ministry, allowing the Lord to do the work of putting broken pieces back together in the lives of people. I seek to come alongside those who are hurting in order to help them towards healing. I bring into counselling a wide variety of experiences and training to assist in this process, seeking to minister healing to the whole person, body, soul and spirit. 

    I will try to help you to move from focusing on problems to focusing on solutions to those problems. The work of putting this new focus into practice in your situation will be up to you. I counsel using various methods, often working from a Family Systems perspective, which means that I will take into account the issues and patterns within your relationships, as well as what is going on inside you. When you enter counselling with me, you will have the options of working on individual issues, and/or relationship issues, and/or participating in prayer counselling.

    The counselling that I do is for both Christians and non-Christians. I am able to assist those who come from various social and religious backgrounds. However, as I live and work from the perspective of the Christian worldview, my counselling will be strongly influenced by my belief and value system as a Christian. 

     I have over twelve years of experience counselling people with a variety of personal, marital and family issues. A major focus of my work has been in helping people with trauma and abuse recovery, as well as family conflict resolution. Prior to becoming a counsellor, I had a background in the health care field, having worked in chronic care, active hospital and home care. In addition, I have had some involvement as a crisis pregnancy support person and as a volunteer pastoral care worker.
